A hula hoop is more than just a child’s’ play-thing, it is a piece of exercise equipment that
can help to burn calories, while you tone up, lose weight, and have fun.
Easy to use, and available in different weights and colours, a weighted hula hoop can be a
great addition to your workout, but it can also be the only workout that you do.
Easy to use
While a child’s hula hoop can be relatively easy to use, a weighted hoop is easier for
adults thanks to the slower spinning rate. The larger the hoop, the easier it is to use, and
keep around your waist, which means you can use it for longer periods of time. The benefit
of using a hula hoop for longer means you can burn more fat, and tone your body.
Engaging your abs and hips
When you use a hula hoop you engage your hips and your abdominal muscles, and you may even burn up to seven calories every single minute. Not only is using a hula hoop a whole lot of fun, but it can also get rid of your spare tyre, and prove to be an effective cardiovascular workout.
Train when and where you please
Unlike many other types of gym equipment, hula hoops can be taken and used just about anywhere. This means that you don’t just have to use them at the gym or in the privacy of your own home, you can also use them at the park, as part of your run through the woods, or in your garden.
Many hula hoops that are specifically made for adults can be taken apart, so they are easy to travel with, and assembled when needed.
How to burn fat and tone your body
You can burn fat and tone your body using a hula hoop, and nothing else! When you spin the hoop around your midsection you will engage your abs and hips. When you continue to spin the hoop, your abs and hips will continue to work, while you get a cardiovascular workout. During your workout that lasts 5-10 minutes, you should expect to burn between 150-300 calories, depending on how long your workout lasts, and its intensity.
How to use a hula hoop
If you used a hula hoop as a child, chances are that you remember how to use them, but you may not be as flexible as you were then, so you may need a little reminder:
- Bring the hula hoop up to your waist and turn it quickly anti-clockwise if you’re right-handed, or clockwise if you’re left-handed (Or whichever way you please!)
- When the hoop begins to spin move your hips in a circular motion so the hoop continues to move round and round.
- Keep using the hula hoop for 5 minutes, gradually building up to 10.
Very comfortable to use, and bacteria and moisture resistant, using a weighted hula hoop can be the ideal way to get back in shape whilst having fun!
