What is Aerobic Exercise? 

 The human body needs oxygen to function. Aerobic exercises are any movement that increases your body’s demand for oxygen. The most common aerobic exercises are walking, jogging, cycling, and swimming. 

     Aerobic exercises are beneficial to human health. However, they can come with some risks. Some people might experience shortness of breath or joint pain while others might have an increased heart rate or blood pressure when performing aerobic exercises. So, take it easy and begin slowly until your body will get used to it and be able to adapt.

Aerobic Exercise Benefits 

Aerobic exercise brings about many health benefits in our bodies and this regular physical activity is not just good because it helps in weight loss but with many more. Some of aerobic exercise benefits are as follows: 

1. It helps in releasing toxins from our body 

Aerobic Exercise is one of the best ways for your body to release toxins. One way this happens is through sweat, which contains water and salt. These are both natural purifiers. And exercise also leads to improved blood circulation, which brings fresh nutrients and oxygen to cells in the body. This helps fight off bacteria, which are also an important source of toxins in the body. 

2. It helps improve our immune system  

Aerobic exercise stimulates the immune system by releasing substances called cytokines. These are cells that help regulate the immune system. 

The surge in white blood cells, lymphocytes, and natural killer cells in response to aerobic exercise is what improves your immunity. 

3. It helps in reducing the risk of heart disease 

Oxygen-rich blood is pumped to the heart and other organs by the heart. This ensures that they get enough oxygen and nutrients. The heart also pumps blood to the lungs, which removes carbon dioxide from the body. 

Aerobic exercises increase your heart rate for a prolonged period of time, so it does more work. This increases the efficiency of your heart and makes it work less hard to do its job, which reduces your risk of developing cardiovascular diseases such as hypertension and coronary artery disease.

4. Helps in controlling blood sugar levels 

Regular exercise can control blood sugar levels. Exercise lowers the levels of insulin in the body which decreases the amount of sugar being absorbed into the bloodstream.

5. Good for your mood

Aerobic activity is a powerful tool to help regulate your mood. When you exercise, your body releases endorphins that create a sense of euphoria and happiness. You may also experience feelings of anticipation, excitement and satisfaction while working out.  

6. Lowers blood pressure  

Physical activity like aerobic exercises is good for those who are suffering from high blood pressure. Exercise is the most important ingredient in lowering blood pressure. After exercise, the heart rate slows down and blood flow moves to where it’s needed in the body. This lowers blood pressure because there’s less strain on the heart. 

Aerobic exercises are not that difficult to begin with. We can do it every day even without realizing it. And the thing is, we can do it in places where there is no need to spend money. We can be healthy in a way that is attainable and not that hard enough to do, since it is already part of our daily activity. We just need to be more intentional.
